2020 League 3 - Minchinhampton

The 2020 NGOC league race at Minchinhampton was a Middle Distance Race, based by the reservoir on the Common, and using the wide open spaces of the Common. The map is not accurately geo-referenced, so controls have been positioned using Google Earth. This means that whilst the paper map will correctly position controls on the relevant features, there will be some discrepancies in the phone version of the map between the control feature and the control location. This will not affect the way maprun works; you run to the control circle marked on your paper map, and your phone will beep when you get there....it is using the real control location, not the one shown on the phone map!

The going should be fast and easy throughout each course, and full leg cover is not required.

Each course has a double sided map. Make sure you print both parts before going up to Minchinhampton.

If you ran the Green course at the league event your map from that race is not quite the same as the maprun course printed map. The road crossing has been reduced to a single control, on the North side of the road. In addition, the positions of two controls have been adjusted minimally to move controls out of thickets, and save you having to dive in to find them. These changes are reflected in the PDF maps available for download on this page, but obviously not in a map you may have from the actual event.

Both courses are configured to allow you to display runner location and track if you wish to. To do so you must tap Settings and Options and enable these options before tapping Go to Start; you cannot enable them after tapping Go to Start.

Parking is in any of the parking laybys along the road running past the reservoir, the nearest postcode being GL5 5AA.

The Start is on a rather vague path about 55m due North of the North East corner of the reservoir. If you tap Go To Start as you leave the car the app will show your location as you approach the start, but will switch off visible runner location after you start, unless you have set it on in Options and Settings. The Finish is adjacent to the last bush on the path back towards the reservoir from your final control, just over 100m before you reach the reservoir.
