MaprunF – A Wholly New Version of Maprun

Published by Pat Macleod on

A completely new version of maprun has just been released, and is available to download now for Android and iOS. The new version has a host of new facilities, but still does all the basics that we are now very used to. It also co-exists with the current version, and you can in fact run both app concurrently.

There’s too much new for me to list it all here, but you can find comprehensive release notes
here. In general, there is greater flexibility in the app, including things like setting the punching tolerance, and real time tracking(to come), but also some interesting new capabilities such as being able to set up and run a one user course on your phone(good for testing courses and control sites) and a course planning facility which should also make it easier to get events going.

If you are planning to come to Oakley and Prestbury on Thursday evening, or indeed to run a maprun course elsewhere, please consider downloading the new app, and giving it a try. Peter Effeney, maprun author, is keen for people to give it a good field test, whilst recognising that it is entirely new code, and so is likely to contain a few glitches. Helping to find them is a useful contribution we can make to the ongoing development of maprun.

Of course if you are wary of new software, you are most welcome just to stay with the older system!
