Gloucester maprun

Published by Pat Macleod on

Many thanks and well done to everyone who risked the rain and came out last night for our last run maprun of the year. It was particularly fortunate that the rain did in fact hold off, as I managed to lock myself out of my car with several people’s kit and keys inside, so I had a lot of hanging around to do during and after the race. Sincere apologies to everyone who also had to hang around while the nice AA man tried, in the end in vain, to unlock it. My Christmas present to myself is £300 odd for a new quarterlight!!

That aside, a good turnout, and hopefully an enjoyable run. Traffic and railway crossings caused a few problems, and demonstrated that town centre running is perhaps not as much fun as suburban racing.

Spot prizes were also in the car, so the prize winners will have to look eagerly forward to receiving their generous prizes, each worth a whopping £1, next time we meet. The prize winners were:

  • Overall winner and first timer: Eoghan Wiles
  • Fastest first split: Tom Cochrane: 2:24
  • ‘Sprint’ to the Finish back marker: Claire Carpenter: 9:09
  • Closest but under 60 minutes: Ian Phillips: 59:39
  • Longest run: John Miklausic: 15.14Km
  • Bribery prize: Greg Best, promised something if he turned up!

Well done all……an extra incentive to come to Brierley on New Year’s Day, and/or Woodchester on 12th January for the start of the 2019 league season, and inauguration of our new trail courses.

In the meantime, have a great Christmas, and I hope we’ll see you at Monmouth on 24th January.
