Bringsty Common
This is a rural terrain course, based almost wholly on common land, or National Trust managed woods and parkland. Although none of the hills are very big, the elevation quickly adds up here. Some of the slopes are steep and local geology makes the ground susceptible to be very muddy during winter. We recommend grippy off-road shoes during the winter months, but trainers are fine during summer.
Safety - you will likely cross the A44 at least twice. The road has a 50 mph speed limit but the local drivers are not known for their skill(!). Take great care crossing the road, especially near bends and crests.
Please be respectful of the areas marked private/out of bounds on the printed maps (Xs or hatching) - these are areas that you have no entitlement to access.
Parking is just off the A44 - approx 50 yards along the access track for the Live and Let Live pub (there is a traditional sign shortly before the turn if approaching from Worcester). There is space to fit up to 10 cars in the parking area or alongside the track before it dips downhill. If this is full there is also a layby on the A44 opposite the track.
Start and Finishare on the pub access track, where a footpath diverges east for the Gospel Oak, immediately before the track dips down.
Phone signal is good in the parking area so you can find and download the course via “Events near me”. If you want to download in advance, you can find in the below directory: UK\Gloucestershire\Herefordshire
For post-run refreshments, consider visiting the Bringsty Garage Cafe (1/2 mile east on A44, or walk down the access track to the pub (1/4 mile)
